A recent survey conducted by the CSA institute, published in Le Journal du Dimanche, reveals that 59% of French citizens support increasing the defense budget by reallocating funds from other government expenditures. The data shows that 63% of surveyed men advocate for this increase, compared to 55% of women. Notably, the strongest support comes from citizens aged over 65 and those between 18 and 24, while only 44% of individuals aged 25 to 34 approve. Political affiliation significantly influences opinions: 74% of Socialist Party supporters and 62% of Green Party members favor the budget increase, while support drops to 35% among voters of the far-left “France Insoumise.” Conversely, 75% of “Les RĂ©publicains” supporters and 57% of those from the far-right “Rassemblement National” back the proposal. An impressive 83% of supporters of the presidential party “Renaissance” endorse the initiative. This strong consensus across diverse demographic and political groups underscores a pivotal shift in public sentiment towards defense funding in France, reflecting a broader recognition of national security priorities.
