Rostec’s Rospromexport has secured a $248 million contract with the Indian Ministry of Defence for the supply of engines designed for the remotorization of T-72 tanks currently in service with the Indian military. This contract involves the production of 1,000-horsepower engines, which will enhance the operational capabilities of the T-72 fleet by nearly 30%, improving maneuverability and terrain performance. Furthermore, the agreement includes the transfer of manufacturing technology, aligning with India’s Make in India initiative. This collaboration not only strengthens defense ties between Russia and India but also significantly boosts the combat readiness of India’s armored forces, reflecting a strategic enhancement in their military capabilities.
