The International Mine Action Centre of the Russian Armed Forces has successfully trained over 1,700 foreign military specialists from 14 countries, focusing on critical areas such as humanitarian demining, countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and the organization of mine clearance operations. Among the graduates are personnel from engineering units of nations including Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Djibouti, India, Kazakhstan, Niger, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and Myanmar. Colonel Oleg Kryzhanovsky noted that some of these specialists received training in their home countries through branches of the Centre, with a notable satellite established in Laos since 2018 that has trained 136 members of the Lao People’s Army. Moreover, a new group of instructors has recently trained 30 local military specialists in Myanmar. This initiative not only enhances regional security capabilities but also fosters international military cooperation, underscoring the strategic importance of effective mine action in mitigating the risks posed by unexploded ordnance.
