The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been observed utilizing the Romanian version of the Soviet ZRK “Strela-1,” known as the CA-95M. This air defense system, built on the chassis of the amphibious armored personnel carrier TAB-79, features a combat vehicle configuration ML-A95M. Originally manufactured in the 1980s, a total of 48 units were produced for the Romanian military. The CA-95M is capable of carrying up to four surface-to-air missiles equipped with infrared guidance systems, allowing it to engage aerial threats at distances of up to 3.5 kilometers. Concurrently, Russian military sources highlight the operational success of the “Strela-10” self-propelled systems, citing their effectiveness in neutralizing numerous reconnaissance and strike drones during ongoing military operations. This dual development reflects the evolving air defense landscape and underscores the continued relevance of outdated systems in modern conflict scenarios.
