The Russian defense industry is advancing its capabilities with the development of a mobile combat laser system as part of the nationwide “Archangel” project. Led by project founder Mikhail Filippov, recent tests demonstrated the laser’s effectiveness at a distance of 35 meters against various materials, yielding promising results. Currently, the system operates manually and lacks automated detection and targeting systems, which are intended for future integration. The primary application envisioned for this technology is the protection of critical infrastructure from drone threats. This development underscores the increasing importance of laser systems in modern warfare and the ongoing pursuit of advanced defensive measures against emerging aerial threats.
