Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has secured a contract with the Danish Ministry of Defence for the supply of Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) and associated equipment, valued at 2.1 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $193.5 million). The specific quantity of missiles has not been disclosed, but the NSM is expected to integrate into the arsenal of Denmark’s Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates, which are set for extensive modernization. This advanced medium-range anti-ship missile, capable of engaging both surface and land targets at distances up to 250 kilometers, features a low-altitude flight profile and utilizes passive guidance systems, enhancing its stealth capabilities against air defense systems. With Denmark becoming the 14th nation to adopt NSM—joining a lineup that includes Norway, Poland, and the United States—this acquisition underscores the missile’s recognition as a preferred solution among NATO navies and significantly enhances the operational capabilities of the Royal Danish Navy.
