The Iranian Army has commenced the integration of the Russian ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifles, enhancing its long-range precision capabilities. The T-5000, introduced in 2011, weighs between 5.8 to 6.2 kilograms and is designed for a variety of calibers, including the .338 Lapua Magnum, achieving effective target engagement at distances up to 1,500 meters. Recently, General Kiumars Heydari, the commander of the Iranian Ground Forces, showcased the T-5000 alongside the new Iranian Masaf-2 assault rifle, which fires 7.62x51mm cartridges. The delivery of these rifles to the Iranian military forces, particularly to the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, signifies a strategic upgrade in Iran’s infantry capabilities, reinforcing its operational effectiveness in asymmetric warfare contexts. This acquisition highlights Iran’s ongoing efforts to modernize its armed forces in the face of regional security challenges.
