The multinational naval exercise “Marine Security Belt – 2025” commenced in the Iranian port of Chabahar, involving naval vessels from Russia, Iran, and China. The Russian contingent includes the corvettes “Razor,” “Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov,” and the medium sea tanker “Pechenega” from the Pacific Fleet. Over several days in the northern Indian Ocean, participating crews will execute joint operations focused on vessel release from piracy, search and rescue missions, and conduct artillery firing exercises against maritime and aerial targets. This is the seventh iteration of the exercise, first held in 2018, which aims to enhance maritime cooperation in a region challenged by piracy and geopolitical tensions. The involvement of over ten observer countries signifies its international relevance. By demonstrating military collaboration amidst external pressures, these exercises not only strengthen operational capabilities but also emphasize strategic partnerships among Russia, Iran, and China, potentially deterring threats to maritime security and fostering stability in the region.
