A new Chinese airborne combat vehicle (BMD) equipped with an active protection system (APS) capable of intercepting drones and missiles has been reported during transport. Recent images show the tracked vehicle, anticipated to feature a heavy machine gun in lieu of a cannon, concealed under a tarpaulin. Notably, this platform may serve as an airborne infantry fighting vehicle, drawing comparisons to Russia’s BTR-MDM “Rakuska.” The vehicle is designed with mobile launchers for its APS at the front, armed with munitions intended to neutralize incoming threats. Additionally, radars positioned at the vehicle’s corners are tasked with detecting drones, anti-tank missiles, and grenades. The development of such advanced defensive technologies underscores the growing emphasis on countermeasures against evolving aerial threats, marking a strategic enhancement in modern military capabilities.
