On March 13, 2023, Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, General-Colonel Andrey Buliga, convened a working meeting focusing on the modernization of logistics systems (MTO) in the context of ongoing military operations. The discussion involved military management officials and representatives from logistics units responsible for support in the Special Military Operation (SVO) zone. Buliga emphasized the continuous adaptation of support units to meet the evolving needs of combat forces, highlighting the integration of robotics to enhance supply efficiency. A significant highlight was the development of a new Individual Ration Pack (IRP) delivered via FPV drones for soldiers engaged in frontline operations. These “survival food packs” will contain essential daily nutrition, including freeze-dried products and fortified beverages, designed to weigh no more than 1.5 kg while providing the required caloric intake. The Deputy Minister instructed the swift preparation of technical specifications for producing pilot batches of the IRP and their immediate deployment for field trials. He underscored the urgency of facilitating this logistic solution to improve the dietary variety for troops in combat scenarios. This initiative aims to enhance operational effectiveness and soldier welfare in challenging environments, reinforcing the Russian military’s logistical capabilities.
