Embraer Aims to Transform Polish Aviation Industry

Brazilian company Embraer is proposing the establishment of a state-of-the-art aerospace manufacturing and maintenance center in Poland, which would emerge as the most advanced facility in Europe. CEO Francisco Gomes Neto visited Poland to engage with existing and potential partners in manufacturing, final assembly, maintenance, and conversion of passenger aircraft to cargo, as well as eVTOL research and development. Notably, during discussions with Pawel Bejda, Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense, Embraer positioned the KC-390 “Millennium” transport aircraft as a key offering for the Polish Air Force, considering the European Union a vital market for this aircraft. Following orders from Portugal and Hungary, additional interest has been expressed from the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Slovakia. Embraer seeks partners in Poland to set up component production and final assembly lines for the KC-390, projecting an economic impact of up to $1 billion and 600 jobs created from the assembly and post-sale support ecosystem. Beyond the KC-390, potential projects also include the assembly of components for Embraer’s E2 commercial aircraft and the conversion of E190 jets to cargo versions. Collectively, these initiatives could generate up to $3 billion and create approximately 5,000 jobs over the next decade. With Poland’s aging C-130 aircraft poised for replacement, this collaboration not only addresses the operational needs for enhanced air mobility and refueling capabilities but also solidifies Poland’s strategic role in the European defense landscape.
