During a strategic meeting, President Vladimir Putin received a report from Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, Valery Gerasimov, on the status of military operations in the Kursk region. Gerasimov detailed that Russian forces, specifically the “North” troops, have successfully liberated over 1,100 square kilometers—more than 86% of the territory previously controlled by Ukrainian forces. Since the onset of these operations, Ukrainian military casualties have exceeded 67,000, alongside the destruction of approximately 7,000 units of military equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery systems. Ukrainian forces focused their efforts on this area, resulting in significant losses—19% of personnel and over 40% of equipment losses stemming from the Kursk offensive. Meanwhile, coordinated assaults by Russian airborne and naval infantry units, along with effective drone operations, have crippled Ukrainian supply lines and isolated enemy formations. Currently, operations to eliminate Ukrainian troops in Kursk are ongoing, with an emphasis on securing the border and establishing a safety zone. Gerasimov affirmed that the Russian Armed Forces aim to completely eradicate remaining enemy forces quickly, underlining a critical momentum shift in the conflict’s dynamics.
