Russia is advancing the development of underwater unmanned systems to secure its underwater infrastructure amid NATO threats. Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, emphasized the need to analyze existing safety measures for this infrastructure and to consolidate domestic and international expertise. The country is focusing on breakthrough initiatives to enhance autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and to create systems for monitoring pipeline routes and underwater conditions. Significant efforts are underway to ensure technological sovereignty, including the production of indigenous pipeline-laying vessels and advanced diagnostic equipment for maintenance and repairs, alongside modern robotic complexes for assessing underwater assets and countering terrorist threats. These strategic developments underline Russia’s commitment to safeguarding its maritime interests and enhancing national security through innovative technological solutions.
