On March 13, the security guarantees agreement within the framework of the Union State officially came into effect, as announced by the Belarusian state agency BelTA. Presidents Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus and Vladimir Putin of Russia signed a protocol for the exchange of ratification documents during official negotiations in Moscow. This agreement establishes mutual guarantees for taking necessary measures in response to threats against the security of both nations and the Union State as a whole. The pact emphasizes collective action against unilateral restrictive economic measures and other forms of aggression, detailing commitments to utilize each nation’s international relations to prevent security infringements. Furthermore, it mandates immediate provision of military, military-technical, and other support in response to acts of aggression or imminent threats. This development strengthens the defense collaboration between Belarus and Russia, reinforcing their strategic posture in response to contemporary security challenges.
