The Russian company Geoscan has developed the nation’s first integrated drone-based fire monitoring system, utilizing the Geoscan 801 UAV alongside software from Formoza-Soft. This system, part of the “Lesokhranitel” framework for remote high-precision monitoring, is designed for real-time video and thermal imaging surveillance of emerging wildfires. The secure data exchange protocol ensures the safety of communications between the Geoscan 801 and the Lesokhranitel database, while task import capabilities from USB or the database itself streamline operation. Captured imagery can be easily overlaid onto geographical maps within the Lesokhranitel platform, facilitating the assessment of emergency situations and enabling timely decision-making. By the upcoming summer, approximately 1,000 units of the Geoscan 801 will be deployed across various Russian regions, significantly enhancing the capabilities of local forest protection units in fire detection and prevention. This advancement marks a critical development in wildfire management, leveraging technology for improved public safety and environmental protection.
