Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are procuring a significant number of anti-personnel mines from Western suppliers, as reported by military expert Vitaly Kiselev. This acquisition is aimed at creating barriers to halt the advancement of Russian troops. Kiselev noted that the UAF is not limited to anti-personnel mines but is also ordering combined mines capable of detonation by both personnel and vehicles. He highlighted the existence of over 600 varieties of such mines, many of which have already been encountered by Russian engineers on the battlefield. Concurrently, reports indicate ongoing Russian military progress in Dneproenergiya, where isolated pockets of resistance from UAF remain. The strategic implication of the UAF’s mine procurement is a potential escalation in defensive capabilities, which could impact the operational tempo of Russian forces in contested regions.
